The Minnesota Timberwolves received some terrible news Monday morning when it was revealed to them that starting Center Al Jefferson will be out indefinitely with a torn ACL. This is a huge blow to the T-Wolves and Jefferson’s fantasy owners. Jefferson was having a career year before injuring his knee in the final seconds of the game Sunday night.
Jefferson was the T-Wolves leading scorer with 23 ppg and 11 reb. Fantasy owners will surely be scouring the waiver wire for a replacement so now might be a good time to offer up that extra Center you have on your roster in hopes of stealing a more valuable player from Jefferson Owners. If you are a Jefferson owner, look no further than Kevin Love. Depending on your league, he might still be available, and I stress might. The boost in minutes should turn him into a fantasy stud. Now is the time for Love to prove that he is indeed capable of doing what the T-Wolves thought he could do when they drafted him.
Andrei Kirilenko -Ankle- Could return after the All-Star break if all goes well with rehab. This would be great news for Kirilenko owners who expected him to miss a couple more weeks at best.
Chris Kaman -Foot- Still no return date targeted. Keep him if you have the roster spot in Head to Head leagues but rotisserie leagues are a lost cause.
Chris Paul -Groin- Could be rested through the All-Star break after missing the last 3 games due to the injury. Expect him to sit.
Al Horford -Knee- He’s back but will need time to regain his old form. Should be a solid start after the All-Star break.
Manu Ginobili -Hip- Just like Paul, he could sit through the All-Star break and Popovic has shown a willingness to rest his studs.
Andrew Bynum -Knee- Lost cause in rotisserie leagues but could have value in Head to Head come playoff time, maybe.
Gerald Wallace -Rib/Collapsed Lung- He swears he won’t miss more than 7 games with this injury! This doesn’t seem likely due to the serious nature of the injury.
Chris Bosh -Knee- He will rest through the All-Star break but it doesn’t sound too serious.
Andris Biedrins -Ankle- He should return sometime after the All-Star break. Ronny Turiaf will start in his place and is a great source of blocks but not much else.
Jason Terry -Hand- Going to miss “several weeks” with a broken bone in his hand that may require surgery. So much for all of those Jason Kidd trade rumors.
Andrew Bogut -Back- Out for most of the season if not the entire season. Charlie Villanueva is now the #1 scoring option.
Carlos Boozer -Knee- Still a few weeks away from a return.
Mike Dunleavy -Knee- This is the same knee that caused him to miss 34 games to start the season. He will probably be out through the All-Star break.
Delonte West -Wrist- Should return shortly after the All-Star break.
Rudy Gay -Hip- Might be a candidate for rest through the All-Star break. No news on availability for Tuesday’s game as of yet.
Vince Carter -Elbow- Should be okay to start but is it worth it for only one game before the All-Star break?
Yi Jianlian -Finger- Should be back sometime shortly after the All-Star break but will need time to get back up to speed.
Drew Gooden -Abdominal/Groin- He sounds worried that it might be a sports hernia and not just an abdominal strain/groin injury. Keep him on your team for now but things could get much worse in a hurry.
Luke Ridnour -Thumb- Out for 3-4 weeks and Ramon Sessions has taken over like a true fantasy stud. Don’t be surprised if Ridnour loses the starting job to Sessions.
Marquis Daniels -Back- Listed as day-to-day but his value does increase if Dunleavy is out for an extended period of time.
Tyson Chandler -Ankle- Will try to return this week before the All-Star break but really didn’t do much before the injury. He might be worth owning if he can figure out how to play basketball at a competitive level again.
Jameer Nelson -Shoulder- Most likely will need surgery that will end his season which is sad because he was having a career year.
Andray Blatche -Knee- He should be back shortly after the All-Star break so keep an eye on him. He should be worth a roster spot in deeper leagues after the All-Star break.
Steve Blake -Shoulder- Should return after the All-Star break and could be worth owning in deeper leagues.
Brad Miller -Hip- Disappointing season for the big man so far but things could turn around for him if he gets traded after the All-Star break.
Gilbert Arenas -Knee- I seriously doubt that he will play this year. The Wizards are terrible and there is no point in him coming back just to play a few games. Drop him if you actually still have him on your team.
