Here is a quick refresher. 5 cat league, points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. Start 2 guards, 2 forwards, 1 center and 1 utility.
Okay, so my week 3 team failed me. I wound up losing 2-3 without the help of Andrei Kirilenko for 3 1/2 games. I can’t complain however, because I was going up against Josh Howard who missed 1 game in week 3. I started Jason Kidd, Joe Johnson, Amare Stoudemire, Andrei Kirilenko, Richard Jefferson and Rajon Rondo while my opponent started Andre Iguodala, Stephen Jackson, Gerald Wallace, Josh Howard, Dwight Howard, and Rasheed Wallace. Now, I was going for points, assists and steals, while conceeding rebounds and blocks. I won assists and steals without a problem but missing out on three games with Kirilenko matched with Stoudemire having three off nights in a row, I was doomed when it came to points. I was blown out in blocks and rebounds just as I expected. Now I am currently sitting at 10-5 and in 4th place in the league.
Week 4 should be a different story. I have started Kidd, Johnson, Stoudemire, Kirilenko (he said he will be ready for Monday’s game), Camby, and Rondo. My opponent went with Chris Paul, Tracy McGrady, Chris Bosh, Tim Duncan, Samuel Dalembert and John Salmons. This was very puzzling to me because he has Andrew Bynum and Jermaine O’Neal on his bench with 4 games while Dalembert has only 3. My fantasy basketball magic stat predictor (MSP) says that I will have no chance in points, rebounds and assists will be toss ups, I will win steals in a runaway and blocks shouldn’t be a problem for me either. Now, this MSP isn’t always right. It doesn’t take into account injuries, off nights, huge nights or blowouts. It deals strictly with averages.
This should be an interesting week of fantasy basketball for me. I have to start doing my research for week 5 now so I can get the jump on my next opponent. That is the one aspect of a weekly lock league that I do enjoy. I get to set my lineup and forget about it and can immediately begin thinking about the following week.
