My Super Bowl Pick

Posted: 4th February 2012 by Brandon Craver in Fantasy Sports

By Christopher Wood:  Well Super Bowl XLVI is here in Indianapolis, but most of the talk has been about Peyton Manning and his future. Nonetheless, lets get to the game between the New York Giants and New England Patriots. They met four years ago, in super bowl XLII with bigger stakes on the line for the Patriots, but the Giants pulled the big upset and prevented the Patriots from going 19-0. In this game, it will be more about both offenses putting up yards and points. However, which defense is going to make the big plays when needed the most. I think the Giants have a talented trio of defensive lineman. Tom Brady will have to get rid of the ball quickly, considering what happen the last time, these 2 teams got together. Eli Manning has really stepped up his game this season. Eli had four 4th quarter comebacks this season, and been more efficently with his play. The Giants have better wide receivers, than the Patriots who usually go to the Tight Ends. There is one wide receiver (for the Patriots) who really needs to step up, and that is Chad Ocho Cinco (a.k.a. Chad Johnson). Only 15 catches all season, and has been a non factor in the playoffs. If there was a great time to have a breakout game, this super bowl would be the one. Besides, Rob Gronkowski is battling a high ankle injury. So how effective will he be? It could really make the difference on how this super bowl is played. Now for my pick: I say the Giants wil win, and this should be a great game.

Well for most leagues this is Championship week in fantasy football.  Some leagues still choose to play out all 17 weeks but I don’t understand the reasoning behind it.  Why would you want to have the Championship week be the last week of the season where teams like the Packers will be resting their best players after sewing up the #1 seed in the playoffs?  Too many times have I been screwed by leagues like this where I lose two or three of my best players because “real” football means more to “real” football teams than fantasy football.
